A beautiful island like Bora Bora must inspire beautiful art, and rightly so. French Polynesia was the inspiration for many artists including French painter, Paul Gauguin. Alain Despert is an artist famous for capturing the beauty of the island in contemporary depictions. He has a small, quaint local art studio that is open by appointment only. I will be booking for an appointment that allows me ample time to ponder over Despert’s depictions of the island. I want to visit the studio, because I am an artist my self – and I find it very interesting to absorb other artist’s work and compare it to how I would depict the same thing. Especially when it comes to such a beautiful island, I want to compare my experience of Bora Bora with Despert’s visual representation of the very same island.
